This managerial position is accountable for overseeing the corporate Biological/Mechanical Laboratory and its personnel, ensuring the facility and resident test systems operate effectively. The role demands the creation of a highly efficient environment that meets the diverse testing requirements (vertebrate & invertebrate, mechanical, electrical, durability) of Woodstream's extensive product range while upholding stringent safety and cleanliness standards. Responsibilities include directing and prioritizing laboratory workflow, as well as providing support to Quality and production teams. Additionally, this role encompasses typical laboratory tasks such as conducting research studies, technology development, product evaluations, statistical analysis, producing high-quality technical reports, assisting engineering in establishing product specifications, and developing testing protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Oversee the Chemical/Biological laboratory facility and manage workflow.
- Implement and manage the animal lab safety program.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior technicians and scientists.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Responsible for timely and appropriate quality control and production support.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals and samples.
- Ensure ethical and approved practices for housing, rearing, and testing.
- Assist engineering and project teams in the development of new products.
- Actively seek and evaluate innovative products, ideas, and technologies.
- Establish a network of researchers, suppliers, and inventors.
- Coordinate relevant third-party testing.
- Develop and document testing protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Entomology, or a related STEM field with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to pest management products and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
