ROLE SUMMARY:
This position entails overseeing and coordinating comprehensive nursing services for a designated group of individuals within a facility dedicated to developmental disabilities. The Clinical Nurse Expert will lead non-professional staff in health-related activities and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer treatments and medications requiring professional nursing expertise, including IV initiation, phlebotomy, and monitoring post-operative patients.
- Collaborate closely with physicians for assessments and interventions as necessary.
- Document all nursing activities accurately in residential logs and progress notes to ensure effective communication among staff.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop tailored nursing care plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to plan and implement individualized treatment programs.
- Supervise and guide other nursing staff and paraprofessionals in delivering nursing functions.
INCIDENT MANAGEMENT:
- Conduct initial assessments and provide timely treatment for injuries.
- Document incidents thoroughly, including injury details and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for any suspected abuse or neglect.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid nursing license and maintain CPR certification.
- Ability to interact compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Physical capability to assist in lifting and transferring residents as needed.
