Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Design Engineer to join our team at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc. As a key member of our transportation infrastructure team, you will be responsible for developing highway and roadway designs, estimates, and plans using general engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review highway design alternatives to ensure compliance with client specifications and guidelines.
  • Design projects using highway design software, including Bentley GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Develop 3D roadway design models and create plan, profile, and exhibits for internal and external communication.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and memos, as well as proposals for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as MS Project.
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level, with a strong understanding of highway design principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-training certification.
  • Related experience in highway design and transportation infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Bentley GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads Designer, as well as other industry-related software.
Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time, with occasional field work required. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
