POSITION OVERVIEW
ATC Palm Beach County is seeking to recruit a Per-Diem Operating Room Technician. The OPERATING ROOM TECHNICIAN plays a crucial role in the care and preparation of patients undergoing surgical procedures; acts as an integral member of the surgical team by donning appropriate attire, establishing and maintaining a sterile environment, and providing necessary instruments to surgeons. The ideal candidate should possess experience in assisting with Minor Vascular Surgeries, including but not limited to procedures related to the Spine, Hands, Shoulders, and Feet. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE SURGICAL TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS. Candidates must have completed a Surgical Technician program and possess practical experience within the United States.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATING ROOM TECHNICIANS
Completion of an accredited surgical assisting educational program is essential. Most healthcare facilities prefer candidates with national certification, which can be obtained through the Liaison Council on Certification (LCT).
LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
No specific licensure required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of one year of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a clinical environment is necessary.
CREDENTIALS REQUIRED
CPR certification as mandated by the client facility; health screenings and tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory bodies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Various healthcare facility settings; potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OPERATING ROOM TECHNICIAN
- Adheres to ATC policies and procedures.
- Follows client facility policies and procedures.
- Accurately documents all services rendered.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient care and facility practices in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Effectively communicates relevant information to appropriate personnel.
- Upholds accepted ethical and professional standards of conduct.
- Prepares and passes surgical instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies required for operative procedures; ensures accurate counts.
- Possesses knowledge of surgical procedures.
- Understands aseptic techniques and proper operating room scrub procedures.
- Assists in the maintenance and care of specimens.
- Provides patient services in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner that acknowledges cultural diversity and age appropriateness, ensuring autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with potential evening shifts up to 7:00 PM.
