Position Summary and Qualifications
The StaRN Residency Program at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery equips you with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s healthcare environment.
This compensated program will facilitate your transition from academic settings through a structured series of learning experiences, including:
- Advanced clinical training in a specialized area.
- Monthly educational workshops.
- Preceptorship training with a designated facility preceptor.
- Skills assessment and evaluation through practical simulations.
- Mentorship from seasoned nurse leaders.
- Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project.
The RN Resident is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental requirements and consistent with state and specialty practice standards.
In partnership with medical providers and other care team members, the RN Resident delivers individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN Resident acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient conditions during admission and throughout each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Execute procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed by medical providers. Document care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic responses, and notify providers while intervening as necessary in the event of adverse reactions.
- Provide outstanding care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipating their needs.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring clarity in communication.
Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within one year of employment.
- Additional certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State.
- No prior experience required.
- Some travel may be necessary for training.
