About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Utilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Town of Southern Pines. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing sewer lift and ejector stations, as well as other water and sewer facilities.

Job Summary

This is an essential position that requires considerable mechanical knowledge and aptitude. You will work independently on various tasks, including performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and confined space entries. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Checking sewer lift stations and ejector stations for proper operation
  • Performing routine maintenance on all stations and accessories
  • Minor repairs to stations, with assistance from other employees or supervisors when needed
  • Confined space entry and documentation for yourself and other employees
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A valid North Carolina Class A CDL, with tanker endorsement, and an excellent driving record
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Grade I or higher sewer collection certification within one year
  • High school graduate with three years' experience in work requiring mechanical aptitude, or two years' experience in directly related work; or equivalent combination of experience and training
