Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and working collaboratively with our surgical team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to universal protocols.
  • Coordinate treatments with other disciplines, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Provide basic patient assistance, connecting patients to clinical equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and verify all specimens obtained during surgical procedures.
  • Dispose of linens, needles, and sharps in appropriate containers, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Assess wounds and apply or change sterile dressings as instructed by registered nurses.
  • Document universal precautions and initiate emergency procedures as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, acting as a preceptor for students assigned to the surgical unit.
  • Perform quality control monitoring, adhering to all policies, protocols, and standards of care.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (preferred).
  • Certification(s) and License(s) as required by the state and employer.
