Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Barry Veterinary Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinary team in delivering high-quality medical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, and surgical assisting.
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner.
  • Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes in patient condition to veterinarians.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies.
  • Care and maintenance of all medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools.
  • Provide high-quality client communication on patient updates and questions.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekend and vacation shifts.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
