The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled CAT Scan Technologist 2 to join our team in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing complex procedures in CT scan, operating radiographic equipment, and obtaining high-quality diagnostic images with minimal radiation exposure.
Key Responsibilities- Review CT scan orders for appropriateness, notify supervisors of discrepancies, and contact physicians' offices as needed.
- Verify patient identities, maintain accurate records, and apply age-specific care needs according to competency validation checklists.
- Perform complex tasks associated with CT scanner operation, adhere to radiation safety procedures, and maintain high-quality ultrasound standards.
- Assist with patient positioning, adhere to regulatory guidelines, and maintain aseptic technique using universal precautions.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, label and transmit images, and report unusual findings to radiologists or supervisory personnel.
- Dispense oral contrast, operate power injectors, and provide assistance with orientation, training, and education of students and new technologists.
- Participate in research initiatives, develop new protocols, and assist radiologists and PhDs in developing unique CAT scan imaging techniques.
- Monitor charging of procedures and supplies, adhere to University and unit-level policies, and safeguard University assets.
- Associate degree in a relevant field.
- ARRT registration.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Commitment to the University's core values.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
