Overview
In this role, you will engage in a range of technical responsibilities associated with the collection and evaluation of field and laboratory data. You will provide oversight for both field and laboratory operations related to wastewater management, surface water assessment, biosolids treatment, and soil analysis.
Primary Duties- Assign, oversee, and evaluate the work of junior technicians.
- Lead teams in various operational tasks.
- Monitor ongoing research initiatives.
- Review and enhance procedural guidelines and quality assurance plans.
- Conduct analyses of water and biological specimens utilizing a variety of analytical instruments.
- Collect samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Manage and schedule maintenance for water quality monitoring equipment.
- Supervise toxicity assessments on aquatic species.
- Provide training for new technicians.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of samples.
- Inspect and evaluate laboratory equipment.
- Compile reports and document findings.
- Maintain logs for repairs and inventory.
- Operate laboratory equipment efficiently.
- Prepare necessary standards and reagents.
- Execute additional assigned responsibilities as needed.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of metric measurements and scientific terminology.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safe operational practices.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions.
- Proficiency in performing calculations and maintaining precise records.
- Aptitude for sample collection and analytical procedures.
- Ability to organize and coordinate tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
A high school diploma combined with two years of college education in relevant fields and three years of scientific experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Substitution Policy
Additional college coursework or extensive practical experience may be considered as a substitute.
Promotional Criteria
- A minimum of one year of experience in related roles.
- Civil service status is mandatory.
