Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at UMC Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, providing leadership and guidance to our laboratory staff, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, including supervising laboratory staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and management to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to laboratory staff on new procedures and technologies.
  • Ensure that laboratory procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage laboratory budgets and resources, including personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information.
Requirements
  • AA/AS in approved science + 5 years of leadership experience AND (1) Certification: MT(ASCP) MLS (ASCP) MLT(ASCP) or equivalent.
  • OR Bachelor's in approved science + 3 years of leadership experience in a high complexity testing environment AND (1) Certification: MT(ASCP) MLS (ASCP) MLT(ASCP) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MT(ASCP) MLS(ASCP) MLT(ASCP) AMT, NCA or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively build genuine relationships with laboratory staff and physicians.
  • Possess the versatility to work with various levels of employees and lead people from all backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency with high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Speak, read, and write English fluently.
Working Conditions

This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures and minimal exposure to cleaning, staining, and testing chemicals.
