Job Summary

The Recreation Therapist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering recreation therapy services to individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a variety of recreation services to individuals and groups, modifying activities to meet the needs of participants.
  • Review and evaluate program effectiveness, recommending changes or specialized activities as needed.
  • Attend treatment plan review sessions, providing input on program participants' participation in recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with program standards.
  • Arrange for and provide transportation to meet the needs of the facility and recreational activities.
  • Maintain recreational supplies and equipment, researching new purchases and coordinating with contractors and suppliers.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of recreation therapy policies and procedures.
  • Provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention as needed.
Requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, or equivalent experience and credentials. A background check and eligibility for Medicaid and Medicare participation are also required.

Work Environment

The Recreation Therapist will work in a clinical, community, or residential treatment setting, providing recreation therapy services to individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
