Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team at the Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk Inc. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for young children.

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily programs for children, including activities, meals, and safety protocols.
• Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room, ensuring the well-being and safety of the children.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom and Center, adhering to strict health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to develop and implement strategies to support children's learning and development.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

• Meet state licensing requirements for education, experience, and age.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age.

This role requires frequent movement and lifting of children and equipment, as well as occasional heavy lifting. The ability to stand for long periods and interact with children on the playground/classroom is essential.
