Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Distributive Duties
    • Verify all orders generated on shift, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients to ensure seamless care transitions.
    • Screen and affirm appropriateness of orders, including allergy checks and formulary compliance.
    • Document adverse drug reactions and medication errors in the RL system.
    • Respond to drug information questions and provide timely and accurate responses.
    • Ensure high-quality IV Room products and timely delivery of final products.
    • Enter TPN orders into the compounder computer system accurately and timely.
    • Maintain good relationships with peers, nursing staff, physicians, and other departments.
    • Participate in Performance Improvement Projects, Clinical Initiatives, and other work projects as assigned.
  • Patient Care Clinical/Additional Duties
    • Complete anticoagulation monitoring and kinetics monitoring with high skill level.
    • Assist with training: Students, Technicians, Residents, and new pharmacists orientation.
    • Identify issues and optimize care using clinical platforms and rules.
    • Document clinical work using EPIC IVents.
    • Take on other clinical tasks and initiatives as assigned.
    • Complete at least 2 hours of stroke education CE annually.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree and Residency experience.

Preferred or Specialized

One (1) year of hospital clinical experience, Residency, and Board Certification.

License(s)/Certification(s)

Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in Iowa and a valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English, with multicultural sensitivity.

Preparation of IV Sterile Products, customer/patient-focused, and critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
