Overview:
In this role, under general supervision and reporting to the Manager of Revenue Cycle Performance, the Senior Revenue Cycle Consultant acts as a crucial link between the revenue cycle and clinical operations. The Consultant will develop and enhance a comprehensive understanding of revenue cycle processes, including Rush-specific methodologies and industry best practices. Responsibilities include monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), fostering KPI enhancements, delivering exceptional service to clinical teams, providing mentorship in best practices, addressing issues and concerns, and facilitating change and problem resolution across Revenue Cycle departments, Clinical Areas, and Information Technology. This position embodies the mission, vision, and values of Rush and adheres to Rush policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding service to clinical partners.
  • Act as a revenue cycle best practice authority and liaison to clinical operations.
  • Maintain extensive operational knowledge relevant to clinical practices, revenue cycle, new business initiatives, and reimbursement strategies.
  • Drive the architecture and establishment of new business initiatives.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills at both executive and frontline levels.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal/external stakeholders and Information Technology for business definition, scope, testing, and implementation to ensure quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Manage incoming inquiries and issues related to revenue cycle management, including patient access, registration, collections, reimbursement, customer service, business development, reporting, and analytics.
  • Facilitate performance improvement sessions with stakeholders to accelerate enhancements.
  • Manage customer relationships and expectations by developing a communication strategy to keep stakeholders informed on project outcomes.
  • Onboard new practice leaders to Rush revenue cycle operations and expectations.
  • Establish and nurture meaningful relationships with partners to optimize outcomes, addressing questions and concerns from managers and executives with well-researched recommendations.
  • Present data, information, and opportunities confidently to leaders at all levels.
  • Monitor key revenue cycle metrics for assigned areas.
  • Conduct assessments, including interviews, research, and observations, to understand current practices and identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and practice colleagues to identify trends and address operational, financial, and technological improvement opportunities.
  • Lead improvement projects aimed at enhancing KPIs.
  • Mentor others in revenue cycle best practices.
  • Coordinate and lead regular meetings to devise strategies for improved outcomes.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools, dashboards, and reports to fulfill basic reporting requests and needs.
  • Generate ad hoc reports for the department and customers, performing data analysis to address business inquiries.
  • Conduct ad hoc account-level reviews to evaluate potential opportunities and defects.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous skill enhancement through professional development initiatives.
Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent years of relevant experience in addition to the minimum requirements.

• 5-7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management.

• Familiarity with Epic Revenue Cycle modules; certification preferred.

• Project Management experience; certification preferred.

• Strong analytical and financial reporting capabilities.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting ongoing deadlines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Experience with SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Epic Clarity.

• Project Management Certification.

• Lean Management Certification.

• Epic Revenue Cycle Certification.
