Job Overview

Align Precision is seeking a highly skilled CMM Inspector to join our team. As a CMM Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing inspection activities involving Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) and supporting the creation and editing of CMM programs from customer drawings and CAD files.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee inspection activities involving CMMs and support the creation and editing of CMM programs from customer drawings and CAD files.
  • Support all inspection requirements and processes, including troubleshooting programs as required, supporting tooling and fixturing for new parts, and maintaining electronic files for all programs.
  • Continually work to improve and optimize programs as required and support engineering in the creation of documentation necessary to inspect parts in inspection and on the production floor.
  • Stay current with the latest technology and software upgrades and perform in-process inspections of products to determine conformance to all specifications.
  • Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages, and other handheld measuring devices for open setups and use an Optical Comparator for measurement of parts and characteristics.
  • Use optical measurement equipment to measure part dimensions and understand and perform to all current quality standards.
  • Prepare and update company and customer inspection records as required and communicate inspection results effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trends and train others on inspection techniques and tools as needed.
  • Work closely with engineering to determine documentation and part job requirements and keep machines and work areas clean and organized at all times.
  • Perform safe operation of machines and complete all required paperwork and abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements.
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication and promote and live company culture.
Requirements
  • Able to measure parts using a variety of inspection equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gage pins, thread gages, etc.) to verify part features.
  • Understand and use concepts like absolute position, geometric tolerance, and stack-up.
  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor.
  • Able to accurately complete all required paperwork.
  • Able to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
  • Able to read and understand drawings, specifications, and QMS documentation.
  • Data entry into Excel files with basic formula skills.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications.
