Position Summary

The Production Engineer – Paper Machines will spearhead project initiatives and provide technical guidance to the operations of paper machines. This role emphasizes enhancing operational efficiency through modifications to equipment, methodologies, and product designs. It is a developmental opportunity with anticipated career advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving product quality, optimizing yields, minimizing downtime, increasing operational speeds, reducing costs, and managing working capital effectively.
  • Monitor performance metrics and pinpoint areas requiring enhancement.
  • Investigate production inefficiencies to determine root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop operator-centric systems to facilitate improved troubleshooting processes.
  • Ensure that grade and process specifications align with operational capabilities, including the alignment of critical variables.
  • Support machine shutdowns and startups, ensuring follow-up on maintenance activities.
  • Assist supervisors in establishing operator routines.
  • Contribute to the establishment of accurate productivity benchmarks and material requirements by product grade.
  • Drive projects focused on creating a visually organized workplace, minimizing waste, and reducing variability.
Qualifications

Experience: 2 to 5 years in the paper, converting, or coating industries is preferred.

Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, a commitment to driving improvements, effective communication skills, high motivation, teamwork orientation, and accountability for decisions and their impacts. Familiarity with project management and lean/six sigma methodologies is advantageous.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in pulp and paper or chemical engineering is preferred. Other technical disciplines may be considered if accompanied by relevant experience.
