Surgical Technologist Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist Specialist to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment providing surgical care to patients, assisting healthcare professionals, and ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room and sterile field for surgical procedures, including setting up surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment using sterile technique.
- Assist healthcare professionals in receiving, labeling, and verifying sterile solutions and medications to be administered during surgery according to established protocol.
- Verify patient's identity, correct surgical site, and correct surgical procedure.
- Assist in moving and positioning patients for surgery, adhering to established safety guidelines.
- Engage in appropriate gowning and gloving procedures in the perioperative setting.
- Assist healthcare professionals in performing non-invasive preparation of the skin's surface and draping patients for surgery.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Holds and maintains a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists or successful completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization other than the NBSTSA.
