As a Fiber Splicer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Splicing large & small count Fiber Cables Mid Sheath Cuts
  • Utilizing proper techniques to splice fiber optic cable
  • Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables
  • Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR
  • Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary
  • Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard
  • Work indoors and outdoors as needed
  • Iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written
  • Night work as needed for things like node splits
  • Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cables

Key requirements include knowledge of ribbon fiber, fiber to the home, and the ability to work with a Fusion Splicer to splice Loose Tube & Ribbon fiber cable.
