As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic medical sonograms, including abdominal and OB/Gynecology ultrasound examinations. You will utilize complex ultrasound equipment and transducers to obtain accurate diagnostic images, working under indirect supervision to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Quality and Safety: Improve complete Diagnostic Imaging Report Turnaround Time for outpatients, focusing on workflow, inter-departmental communication, resources, and staffing.
- Service and Care Experience: Enhance telephone response time to meet the established regional TSF standard of 80% of incoming calls answered within 2 minutes, emphasizing service, staffing, workflow, and staff education.
- Efficiency and Affordability: Support the Bend-the-Trend program by reducing NPR expenses by greater than 5%, collaborating with the department Non-payroll Action Team to develop metrics for this goal.
- Access and Customer Service: Improve ultrasound access and maintain a professional behavior toward members and coworkers, creating a positive image for the department by being responsive to patient needs, handling customer complaints positively, and providing compassionate service.
- Professional Maturity and Productivity: Demonstrate professional maturity in all interactions with patients and staff, striving to maintain good working relationships and rapport, and meeting productivity norms achieved by peers within the department or region.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center, or current KP Coalition employees with waived experience requirement.
- Education: Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program or a graduate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with current ARDMS certification.
- License and Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Basic Life Support within four (4) months of hire, and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Experience: Two (2) years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
- Skills: Competency in components of sonography, including routine abdomen, abdomen doppler, small parts, thyroid, and obstetrics/gynecology, as well as experience with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22, and Clickview ultrasound reporting package.
