Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Space Center Houston. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, ensuring the protection of our guests, employees, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring and responding to security and protection systems.
  • Assume a lead role in the proper execution of emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure access control and compliance with established badging procedures for employees and visitors/vendors.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and emergency reports.
  • Responsible for the safe-keeping of valuable Government artifacts and Space Center Houston property.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled tests and verification of Fire and Security Systems.
  • Work in concert with Johnson Space Center Security and local emergency services representatives.
  • Interact with guests in a professional and courteous manner, while being vigilant to potential safety risks.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver's license and ability to maintain a non-commission license through the Texas Department of Public Safety/Private Security Board.
  • Two years of recent Security experience is strongly preferred.
  • Emergency and fire training a plus.
  • AED/CPR/Basic First Aid certifications strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an environment with multiple computer systems.
  • High comfort level in working with computers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and flexibility.
  • Experience in a dispatcher-type position preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maturity to work with little or no supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Must clear background security check and/or drug tests at company discretion.
  • Physically capable of standing/walking for several hours, running on all types of surfaces and terrain.
  • Occasionally lifting of pounds or over 100 pounds in moving victims or the disabled in emergency situations.
