About the Position

The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the team as a Legal Project Manager/Paralegal. As a key member of the School of Medicine's administration, this role will provide administrative and paralegal support to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine legal research and data compilation, as directed.
  • Compile, review, and organize information for meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide routine paralegal assistance to stakeholders as directed.
  • Keep and maintain corporate governance documents for non-profit entities.
  • Prepare charts, summaries, and other tools for legal analysis.
  • Manage internal sources for document and information retrieval; research and retrieve documentation and information; collect and review documents to determine suitability of information for production and document confidentiality; ensure legal documents and policies comply with internal compliance rules; categorize and update information pertaining to governance and contracts generally.
  • Attend meetings as requested and synthesize complex discussions including taking notes, identifying key takeaways, and following-up on actionable items.
  • Act as the project manager for various legal projects and work independently and in concert with stakeholders on projects from conception to completion. Provide clear project direction to ensure projects meet deadlines and provide consistent updates to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Partner with resources from across the ecosystem, business units, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Support complex HR regulatory matters as well as corporate policy adoption.
  • Coordinate the legal team's schedule, expenses, invoices, domestic travel, and other administrative needs.
  • Coordinate and manage aspects of outside counsel relationships, including invoice payment and facilitation of engagements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience.
  • Corporate/law firm paralegal or other relevant in-house legal, compliance, or records management experience preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Experience in process improvement and project management.
  • Possess a strong commitment to customer service and organizational mission.
  • Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker who anticipates future issues and opportunities, recommending solutions to complicated and varied problems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in accuracy, attention to detail, and urgency on assigned tasks.
  • Experience conducting professional communications with executives and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Proficient in contract management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual meeting platforms.
