Position: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Educational Institution

Under the guidance of the Campus Assistant Director of Special Education, the SLP will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Implement strategies to enhance student engagement and ensure progress towards communication goals.
  • Develop, execute, and monitor individualized communication objectives for students within your caseload.
  • Utilize data-driven instructional strategies in collaboration with the educational team.
  • Apply Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques across all educational practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver speech and language services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The number of students served will depend on the workload and potential support from Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).
  • Supervise SLPAs in the implementation of speech and language services within the classroom, based on caseload requirements.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as the designated SLP service coordinator.
  • Conduct evaluations for students in the areas of speech and language as determined by the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET).
  • Implement communication goals as outlined in student IEPs.
  • Adhere to school-wide systems, regulations, and positive behavior intervention strategies.
  • Provide services through a classroom integration model.
  • Guide classroom staff and SLPAs in the execution of speech and communication objectives.
  • Maintain effective and proactive communication with students and their families.
  • Ensure compliance with necessary documentation.
  • Accountable for student growth and proficiency on IEP goals.
  • Engage in annual and ongoing professional development training.

Supervisory Duties:

  • May involve coaching, monitoring, and mentoring up to two Speech-Language Pathology Assistants working with students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred experience in delivering services within a school environment using a classroom integration model.
  • Ability to approach challenges with optimism and resilience.
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred minimum of two years of SLP experience in an educational setting.
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred.
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
  • SLP-CCC preferred.

Required Credentials:

  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card.
  • Valid Speech-Language Pathology License.
  • ADE Speech-Language Pathology Certification.
  • Master's Degree or higher.

ADA and Other Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform tasks such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force, frequently up to 10 pounds, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily conducted in an indoor classroom setting.
