UPMC Children's Hospital is seeking a flexible full-time Radiologic Imaging Technologist to enhance their Diagnostic Radiology department.

We are pleased to offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus for a two-year commitment. Candidates with over one year of experience may qualify for a $15,000 sign-on bonus for the same commitment period.

The Radiologic Imaging Technologist will operate on a rotating schedule that includes on-call, weekend, and holiday shifts. There may also be occasional travel to satellite and express care locations.

This role involves performing imaging procedures at a technical level that does not require constant oversight. The technologist will competently execute a variety of technical procedures that necessitate independent judgment, creativity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies all patients using two identifiers and adheres to universal protocols during procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and evaluates physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to achieve optimal data acquisition.

  • Executes a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment to adjust protocols and shows initiative in applying prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic radiography.
  • Communicates instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and encourage cooperation.

Advanced Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Clinical Specialist in performing quality assurance, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
  • Performs all responsibilities of a Diagnostic Tech I.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with specialty equipment and promptly analyzes data.
  • Conducts electrocardiograms and lab draws, if applicable.
  • Monitors quality control activities and demonstrates advanced knowledge in Diagnostic Imaging by providing patient care according to the latest protocols and procedures.
  • Functions independently, covering shifts, on-call responsibilities, and performing services at satellite facilities while maintaining communication with the lead and management team.
  • Participates in standardization efforts with system-level workgroups.
  • Collaborates directly with Radiologists on protocol development.
  • Assists in training staff and student technologists.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology program or verification of completion and scheduled graduation date.
  • Technologists hired before graduation will work under indirect supervision by an ARRT Certified Diagnostic Technologist until degree verification.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire. CPR certification is required based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
