Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and quality of care in the utilization of radiation-producing sources and equipment, safeguarding both patients and staff from radiation exposure.
  • Provide technical support in developing treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy, monitoring patient progress, and adhering to established policies and safety protocols.
  • Conduct radiation control activities, including investigation, surveillance, inspection, and registration of radiation and x-ray producing devices.
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in the Radiation Therapy and/or Diagnostic Departments.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

1. MS or PhD in Medical Physics or a related field.
2. BLS (AHA) certification required within 30 days of hire.
3. Proficient understanding of the fundamental principles of physics, medical terminology related to health/medical physics, and the common applications and risks associated with radiation.
4. Familiarity with federal regulations governing the use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment.
5. Experience with Cyberknife/SRS is preferred.
6. Solid experience with Varian TrueBeam, HDR Varisource, Aria, and Eclipse is required.
7. Certification in radiologic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) is mandatory.
