Job Title: Coding Technician

At OrthoCarolina, we are seeking a skilled Coding Technician to join our team. As a Coding Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate coding of general orthopedic surgery cases for assigned physicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 CM coding principles, governmental regulations, and third-party requirements.
  • Coordinate with pre-certification office to provide CPT and ICD-9 codes prior to surgery date.
  • Assist clinic staff in ensuring proper codes are used for insurance pre-certification.
  • Remain up-to-date on billing protocols, pricing methodologies, and global edits.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with physicians and staff.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required.
  • American Academy of Professional Coders Certification – CPC required.
  • Two years' experience in a surgical office, hospital, or other health-related enterprise as a medical coder preferred.
  • Insurance background or knowledge also preferred.
