Job Title: Senior Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Specialist to join our team at Southern Maine Agency on Aging. As a key member of our Advancement Office, you will play a critical role in driving our mission to empower older adults and their caregivers to live to their fullest potential.

Job Summary

The Senior Development Specialist will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive blended giving proposal calendar, assisting in the creative content for annual and multi-year philanthropic proposal development, leading efforts in prospect research and expansion of giving opportunities, and adhering to data best practices and tracking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive giving proposal calendar, including corporate giving, sponsorship, foundation, and individual donors.
  • Assist in the creation of compelling and effective philanthropic proposals, including annual and multi-year proposals.
  • Lead prospect research efforts to identify new giving opportunities and expand existing relationships.
  • Utilize prospect research tools to direct philanthropic focus and ensure data best practices.
  • Provide support for events, receptions, and development efforts, as directed.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Three + years of experience in Advancement, Philanthropy, or Development Office.
  • Clear knowledge of donor ethics and best practices.
  • Proficient in Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge, Teams, Microsoft, and Sharepoint.
  • A proactive approach and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Respect for and understanding of older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers, with a commitment to DEI and SMAA's culture of inclusivity.
