ROLE OF A CYBER MALWARE REVERSE ENGINEER


• This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the client's understanding of existing malware threats and implementing effective countermeasures.

• Exceptional analytical skills are vital. When significant malware threats are detected, collaboration with various segments of the security team will be essential to devise suitable solutions. A strong enthusiasm for technology and a quick learning ability regarding new security measures are required.

• Identify prevalent behavioral patterns typically associated with malware.

• Gather Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) through: forensic examination of digital data, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) analysis, utilization of both proprietary and open-source tools, and researching previously documented IOCs.

• Engage in cooperative discussions with other Cyber Network Defense Service Providers (CNDSPs) and Intelligence Community (IC) organizations regarding malicious activities, attacks, or unusual behaviors, while also sharing relevant Cyber Threat Intelligence data.

• Contribute to the formulation of IOCs for proactive defensive measures and passive detection signatures.

• Positions available for either Day or Swing shifts.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


• Proficiency in malware reverse engineering, along with a solid understanding of contemporary tools and operational requirements.

• Capability to detect vulnerabilities in both software and hardware, as well as analyze and reverse engineer software and hardware systems.

• Keen attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently.

• Familiarity with standard network infrastructure is essential.

• Knowledgeable in monitoring emerging threats through Tools, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and their relevance to the MITRE ATT&CK Framework.

• Experience with debuggers and disassemblers, as well as familiarity with linkers and loaders.

• Understanding of domain masquerading, certificates, and file hashing techniques.

• Strong written communication skills are necessary for accurate documentation and reporting of malware findings.
