Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare bridge design plans and construction bid packages for NYSDOT, NYSTA, and locally administered federal aid transportation projects
  • Effectively complete assignments related to bridge inspection, bridge load rating, and analysis, as well as all aspects of concrete/steel bridge and foundation design
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory approving agencies
  • Assist with field inspections and reports for bridge and culvert inspections
  • Attend project kick-off meetings
  • Research, understand, and document jurisdictional requirements
  • Develop creative and strategic design options that meet client goals
  • Complete site feasibility studies as well as site and environmental analysis
  • Schematic design, engineering systems coordination, site cost analysis, design development
  • Specification and materials research
  • Develop plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
  • Develop detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications for bridges and related structures
  • Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Proactively assist Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Group Manager
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, which may involve addressing design-related queries from contractors, conducting site visits, and reviewing construction progress to ensure it aligns with the design intent
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field (MS preferred)
  • 5-10 years minimum of transportation experience, structures/bridge design experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain it
  • Experience with MS Office, MicroStation, STAAD, Bridge Design Software preferred
