Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will oversee the precision and punctuality of financial reporting and analysis for the company’s retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Generate monthly financial statements and conduct thorough reviews to ensure accuracy and validity of all supporting schedules.
  2. Prepare and input monthly journal entries with detailed descriptions while maintaining appropriate documentation.
  3. Document all monthly and year-end accruals accurately.
  4. Examine all balance sheet accounts and create comprehensive support schedules.
  5. Manage the financial reporting for designated asset portfolios.
  6. Scrutinize and uphold the general ledger to guarantee correct coding and cost allocation.
  7. Contribute to the annual budget preparation for assigned properties.
  8. Collaborate with the retail operations team to ensure accurate inventory adjustments.
  9. Confirm that control accounts reconcile with the General Ledger.
  10. Provide support to internal departments such as retail operations, finance, corporate, treasury, leasing, development, and legal.
  11. Assist in developing models for reforecasting, budgeting, and final billings.
  12. Support post-closing proration adjustments and system setups for new entities.
  13. Review monthly management fee expense calculations.
  14. Record sales tax payments accurately.
  15. Examine monthly rent roll billings and minimum rent variance schedules.
  16. Offer assistance to external auditors and internal/external tax advisors as needed.
  17. Respond to inquiries and supply supporting documentation to external partners.
  18. Participate in special projects as required.
  19. Work with corporate accounting to reconcile intercompany balances.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.

5-7 years of experience in a comparable property accounting role.

Experience in accounting for retail operations is required.

Prior public accounting experience is preferred.

Familiarity with Yardi software is advantageous.

CPA certification is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to manage multiple properties simultaneously while being detail-oriented and organized.

Strong understanding of financial reporting.

Proficiency in integrated accounting and spreadsheet software.

Detail-oriented with excellent communication and coordination skills.

Ability to manage multiple company ledgers effectively.

Deadline-driven and motivated.
