Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at GPAC, a leading search firm specializing in placing quality professionals within multiple industries across the United States. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create detailed proposals for Request for Proposal offerings, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and comment on construction documents to incorporate standards during the document development process.
  • Evaluate quotes for applicable scopes and alignment with bid documents, providing pricing based on conceptual plans.
  • Qualify vendor proposals to ascertain scope duplication and/or omissions/exclusions.
  • Collaborate with consultants to develop specifications for new projects, rehabilitation projects, and retrofits.
  • Work with the Pre-Construction team to negotiate/award projects to vendors, demonstrating proficient creativity, conflict resolution, and negotiating abilities.
  • Draft/Negotiate written Scopes of Work for Subcontractors and Material Suppliers to establish clear expectations.
  • Perform all other duties assigned and those that may be necessary to achieve company and departmental goals.
Requirements:
  • Large scale Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Multifamily, Hospitality experience.
  • Site Utility - underground utilities, asphalt, paving, concrete.
  • Knowledge of building codes applicable to the scope of work.
  • Strong technical expertise in all aspects of building construction, including general trades, plumbing trades, mechanical trades, and electrical trades, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and lean construction techniques.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis when reading blueprints.
  • Proficient use of computer and estimating software.
  • Knowledge about means, methods, and materials used in Commercial construction to determine the most cost-effective type of construction for a project.
  • Exceptional knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Great culture fit, able to clearly communicate with customers or peers.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Estimating experience with Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Multifamily, Hospitality projects.
  • Degree in Construction preferred.
  • 5+ years Estimating experience.
