The ideal candidate will focus on both pediatric and adult burn care while also providing support for general reconstructive plastic surgery services.
Role Responsibilities:
- Engage in a balanced practice involving pediatric and adult burn surgery across two prominent trauma centers.
- Participate in clinical and research activities aimed at advancing patient care and educating future plastic surgeons.
Facilities:
The Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Hospital stands as Indiana's only adult burn program accredited by the American Burn Association. This facility features a 15-bed inpatient unit equipped with ICU capabilities, private operating rooms, and comprehensive outpatient services. Annually, the center manages over 300 admissions and 3,100 outpatient visits, addressing a wide range of burn-related injuries.
The Speedway Burn Unit at Riley Hospital for Children is recognized as Indiana's sole pediatric burn program verified by the American Burn Association. This unit includes a 10-bed facility and provides extensive outpatient care, with approximately 2,400 visits each year.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Plastic Surgery, with completion of a fellowship in burn surgery.
- Critical Care fellowship is preferred but not mandatory.
- Commitment to resident and fellow education, along with research interests.
- Eligibility for licensure in Indiana.
