Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration: Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, unless otherwise allowed by state law.
- Observation and Reporting: Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses.
- Medication Cart Management: Perform tasks associated with medication administration, including patient vital signs, calculating medication dosages, and stocking the medication cart.
- Recording and Documentation: Record medication administration according to agency procedure.
- Client Care: Assist the nurse in providing care to clients, which includes observation and reporting of client needs.
- Task Performance: Recognize and perform tasks according to level of education and training.
- Accountability: Accept responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws and regulations.
- Professional Conduct: Perform tasks in an ethical, legal, and caring manner.
- Client Safety: Perform tasks safely and effectively to assure client comfort and welfare.
- Confidentiality: Respect client rights and protect confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare.
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow federal, state, and agency regulations to protect own health and that of others.
- Seeking Guidance: Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Technical Skills: Have experience working with MAR and laptops.
Qualifications:
- Registration: Must be registered with the state as a Registered Medication Aide.
- Certification: Must pass state background check and drug screening.
- Certifications: CPR/BLS, First Aid, TB, RMA certification.
- Experience: Must have experience.
