Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified individual to teach in-person, online/hybrid didactic, laboratory instruction, and clinical courses in the Radiologic Technology program at Virginia Community Colleges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester
  • Engage students in the learning process, clinicals, supervision of students, course and curriculum development, student advising, and accurate maintenance of student files
  • Participate in Radiologic Technology program development and evaluation, college activities and committees, and represent Virginia Community Colleges at community events and professional opportunities
  • Work directly with the Radiography Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, and Division Dean
  • Teach in-person, online/hybrid didactic, clinical courses, manage student clinical competencies and performance evaluations
  • Correlate and coordinate clinical education with didactic education and evaluate its effectiveness
  • Support the Radiography program director in all aspects of administration of the program
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development
  • Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress
  • Participate in the accreditation and assessment processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to imaging sciences, education, or health
  • Two years of clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • One year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program
  • Current, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, in radiography
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to the community college mission and philosophy, students, and teaching in a community college
  • Commitment to academic advisement and mentoring of students
  • Ability to teach during day, evening and weekend hours and travel to locations mainly within Central Virginia
  • Ability to use current and emerging instructional technologies and distance learning technologies
  • Proficient in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising
  • Familiarity with regional accreditation standards, certification, and licensure requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the comprehensive mission of community colleges
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience within an accredited radiography program
  • Administrative, program management, and/or curriculum development experience
  • Familiarity with the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning
  • Experience with active learning, team-based learning, and/or other student-centered teaching styles
  • Experience developing online courses in a college setting
  • Master's degree or higher in a field related to imaging sciences or education
  • Additional credential in CT, MRI, and/or Mammography
  • Experience teaching in higher education, especially within a community college
  • Experience advising and mentoring students
  • Familiarity with the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning
  • Experience with active learning, team-based learning, and/or other student-centered teaching style
