Software Development Engineer

We're looking for a talented Software Development Engineer to join our Platform Development and Engineering Experience (PDEX) team at NBCUniversal. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with development teams to ensure reliable code integration, testing, and deployment using GitHub Actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliable code integration, testing, and deployment using GitHub Actions
  • Contribute to Release Engineering teams best practices, guidelines, and services
  • Maintain documentation for release processes, configuration, and deployment guidelines
  • Participate in agile software development process to facilitate smooth project execution
  • Support enterprise tooling like GitHub, Nexus, and SonarQube for a large engineering community across NBCUniversal

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and training in Computer Science or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of CICD tools like GitHub actions, Jenkins, or similar
  • Exposure to scripting languages like Bash, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and PowerShell
  • Understanding of software development processes, including branching strategies, and code versioning
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix) and basic system administration tasks
  • Passion for problem-solving with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Previous experience with release management, build automation, or related roles (internships, or personal/school projects)
  • Coding languages like Python or Golang
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation
  • Experience with software testing frameworks and automated testing in CICD pipelines
  • Familiarity with artifact management tools like Nexus and package management tools like npm or Maven

Additional Requirements:

This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee's residence.
