Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at KinderCare Learning Companies. As a Cook, you will play a critical role in preparing healthy and nutritious meals for our children, ensuring they have the fuel they need to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks for children, following a menu developed by our in-house nutritionist.
- Order food and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and inventory management.
- Dispense and store medication, as requested, and complete accurate documentation according to KinderCare and other licensing or regulation requirements.
- Support the success of our centers by partnering with staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with food safety and handling procedures, including food storage and cross-contamination avoidance.
- Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food for our centers.
- Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions.
- Possession of a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain.
- At least one year of institutional cooking experience, with food ordering experience highly desirable.
- Two or more years working with children, highly desirable.
- Physical ability to use a computer with basic proficiency and lift up to 40 pounds, as required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
