Residence Inn Portsmouth Maintenance and Housekeeping Position

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician/Houseperson to join our team at Residence Inn Portsmouth, a Colwen Hotels Property. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment and systems
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repair
  • Plan and execute repair work using blueprints or equipment manuals as needed
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician
  • Perform routine maintenance of building systems
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance programs, following established standards and guidelines
  • Work with supervisor to identify and complete all technical projects
  • Respond timely to all work orders
  • Clean and assist with upkeep of facility
  • Assist with House person/Shuttle Driver duties as needed
  • Maintain building exterior not serviced by contractor
  • Receive list of assignments and/or shift checklist from MOD and prioritize items
  • Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments
  • Check the inventory of cleaning cart and add necessary supplies; transport cart to assigned work areas
  • Clean and maintain the appearance of the exterior of hotel
  • Deep cleaning of assigned areas of hotel
  • Clean and maintain back of house area
  • Dust, polish furniture and remove marks/stains from walls and furnishing
  • Remove all trash, dirty linens, towels and room service items from public areas
  • Vacuum carpets and clean floors
  • Deliver items to guest rooms upon request from front desk
  • Ensure soiled linens are laundered
  • Empty trash receptacles and transport trash to dumpster
  • Take found items to designated lost and found area
Requirements:
  • Previous maintenance or related experience, hotel experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of kitchen & refrigeration equipment preferred
  • Working knowledge of fire protection and life safety systems preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to interact with guests in a pleasant and friendly way
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
  • Prioritization and time management skills
  • Familiar with common computer software programs
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs and operate property management system
  • Able to work 7-day rotational work schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
