Job Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory specimen collection, interviews, and clinical assessments, as well as documenting study progress and preparing progress reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory specimen collection, interviews, and clinical assessments
  • Document study progress and prepare progress reports
  • Participate in QA/QC activities and assist with administrative tasks as delegated by the Clinical Research Manager
  • Attend training for each protocol and foster and maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful performance of all study assessments

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency and one year of laboratory experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel between University offices and off-site clinic locations, and when necessary, work nights and weekends
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with certification or technical training in phlebotomy as evidenced by their ability to perform phlebotomy in a clinical setting are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Interest in public health and HIV research
