Clinical Toxicologist - Toxicology Laboratory Specialist

The University of Miami's Pathology Department has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Toxicologist 1 to join our team in the toxicology laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing samples from clinical patient samples, performing tests on routine and complex samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HS-GC-FID, and GC-MS/MS instrumentation and SPE and LLE sample preparation techniques.

**Job Summary:**

As a Clinical Toxicologist 1, you will primarily operate within the toxicology laboratory and be responsible for analyzing patient samples to detect and quantify drugs, narcotics, poisons, or other controlled substances using instrumental chemical techniques, including gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. You will also review patient sample results and all QC results.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Analyze samples from clinical patient samples.
* Perform tests on routine and complex samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HS-GC-FID, and GC-MS/MS instrumentation and SPE and LLE sample preparation techniques.
* Review patient sample results and all QC results.
* Analyze patient samples to detect and quantify drugs, narcotics, poisons, or other controlled substances using instrumental chemical techniques.
* Utilize software platforms such as ChemStation and MassHunter to operate instruments, and Sunquest, UChart, and Microsoft Office.
* Perform routine maintenance on instrumentation and equipment.
* Assist with laboratory quality assurance and quality control functions, including QC tracking and routine laboratory duties.

**Requirements:**

* Associate degree or higher in a relevant field.
* Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel License-Clinical Chemistry Specialty.
* Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience in a Toxicology/Clinical Chemistry laboratory.
* Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
* Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
* Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

$60,000 - $80,000 per year.
