Electromechanical System Designer

We are seeking a skilled Electromechanical System Designer to join our team at Toyota Research Institute. As a key member of our Prototyping and Research Operations (PROps) team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing novel prototypes as part of our research mission.
As an Electromechanical System Designer, you will use your knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to nurture projects in the design phase and see them through to completion in building and testing. You will work closely with our research teams to develop custom robotic systems, including electromechanical systems and actuation, as well as practical software design.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electromechanical engineering, robotics, or a related field, and experience working with C++ and Python. You will be able to travel up to 50% of the time periodically, both internationally and domestically.
The salary range for this position is expected to be between $139,776 and $209,664 per year for California-based roles.
Detailed Responsibilities- Design and develop custom robotic systems, including electromechanical systems and actuation.
- Work closely with research teams to develop prototypes and test their performance.
- Develop documentation for the assembly, manufacturing, and function of designed systems.
- Participate in field test events to evaluate system performance and prepare reports on test results.
