Job Summary

The Nurse role at AMIkids is a critical position that requires a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide medical care to our clients. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all clients receive the proper medical treatment as dictated by Rule 63M-2 F. A. C.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily sick call as required by policy, ensuring that all clients receive timely and appropriate medical attention.
  • Supervise the administration of all medication and maintain Medication Administration Records for all program youth, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise all medication procurement, verification, perpetual inventories, and proper storage, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients.
  • Ensure follow-up instructions from all off-campus providers are followed as ordered and recorded in the Electronic Medical Records and/or Individual Health Care Records as required.
  • Conduct and document in-service training for all team members for medical-related issues, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Communicate with Administration and/or Shift Supervisor every day prior to sick call and conduct shift-to-shift medication count at end of day, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Conduct and document health education classes for all students/family as needed, promoting healthy habits and wellness.
  • Communicate with other department staff regarding medical needs of youth when participating on a treatment team as a treatment team member, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Maintain clean, professional, and kid-friendly medical clinic, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for our clients.
  • Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior, promoting positive behavior and social skills.
  • Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with National standards, ensuring prompt and effective response to medical emergencies.
  • Drive program vehicles as required in accordance with the transportation guidelines, maintaining approved driving status as stated in the transportation policy.
  • Serve as a positive role model for all youth, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and kindness.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Attend required trainings/professional development events and maintain appropriate certifications and licensure, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Assist/lead special projects and other duties as assigned, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Requirements
  • In good standing in the State of employment with a clear and active license and a degree in nursing.
  • Experience in pediatric nursing and/or working within a correctional facility preferred.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state requirements.
  • Must obtain and maintain current ACLS, BLS AED certification by nationally recognized organization.
