Chief Building Engineer

Job Summary:
The Chief Building Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a team of engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of engineers and technicians to ensure that all building systems are functioning properly.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all building systems are functioning in a safe and efficient manner.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Prepare and present reports to management on the status of building systems and maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement energy conservation programs to reduce energy consumption and costs.
- Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering or facilities management.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field, including experience in supervising and coordinating the work of engineers and technicians.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team of engineers and technicians.
- Ability to develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.
- Knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to prepare and present reports to management on the status of building systems and maintenance activities.
- Ability to develop and implement energy conservation programs to reduce energy consumption and costs.
- Ability to ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic and equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts and dust.
- Work duties may require the ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for frequent and prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to respond to requests and communicate to staff, coworkers, clients, and vendors.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering or facilities management.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field, including experience in supervising and coordinating the work of engineers and technicians.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to lift, push and move equipment and furniture.
- Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
