Overview

The individual in this role is responsible for managing the daily functions of the pharmacy department, ensuring effective workflow, clinical patient management, and compliance with both internal and external regulations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining pharmacy sales, controlling expenses, managing inventory, and delivering exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical partners.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service Excellence

  • Guarantees that pharmacy staff provide welcoming service and accurate information while being courteous and efficient.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and resolves complaints, striving to enhance the overall reputation of the pharmacy department.

Operational Management

  • Oversees the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Enhances prescription volume, pharmacy sales, and profitability through precise prescription filling and exceptional customer service.
  • Immediately reports any prescription errors and adheres to company policies regarding incidents and quality improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, maintaining necessary records and documentation.
  • Implements asset protection strategies to minimize financial losses.
  • Maintains a clean and safe pharmacy environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manages cash handling procedures, including daily cash reports and electronic register readings.
  • Ensures proper functioning and maintenance of pharmacy systems and equipment.
  • Identifies third-party pharmacy business opportunities and manages claims submissions to reduce payment rejections.
  • Controls inventory levels, adhering to company purchasing procedures and recommending orders from appropriate sources.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervises pharmacy team members to ensure compliance with company policies and performance standards.
  • Confirms that all pharmacy personnel hold the necessary licenses and are trained on essential functions related to payer and pharmaceutical requirements.
