Job Title: Histotechnician

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnician to join our team at KA Recruiting Inc. in North Carolina.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist. This will involve assisting in preparing frozen sections of surgical specimens, performing histology and cytology procedures, and ensuring accurate sample, block, and slide identification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist.
  • Assist in preparing frozen sections of surgical specimens for microscopic examination.
  • Perform histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing, fixation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine and special stains, and case organization.
  • Ensure accurate sample, block, and slide identification.
  • Prepare and maintain solutions for routine stains and histology procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation as per manufacturer and department procedures.
  • Troubleshoot issues and take appropriate corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to department policies regarding quality control and assurance.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives and provide input for workflow, systems, processes, and equipment selection.
  • Support departmental goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
  • Act as a resource to peers and customers, demonstrating teamwork.
  • Assist in orienting, training, and documenting competency of department personnel.
  • Participate in accreditation inspections.
Requirements:
  • Certification as a Histology Technician.
  • Previous experience in histology and cytology procedures preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards.
