Position Overview:

This role involves a variety of custodial tasks aimed at maintaining cleanliness and order within the university premises. The responsibilities include:

  • Executing cleaning duties such as general sanitation, waste disposal, and basic floor maintenance.
  • Maintaining walkways, steps, and mats in a clean condition.
  • Utilizing vacuums, dust mops, and wet mops for floor cleaning.
  • Cleaning designated areas including furniture, telephones, fixtures, walls, windows, window sills, blinds, and vents.
  • Employing suitable cleaning agents for each task.
  • Setting up for events by arranging chairs, tables, podiums, or other furnishings according to a specified layout.
  • Ensuring adequate supplies are available in restrooms and storage areas.
  • Collecting and disposing of trash and recyclables.
  • Handling hazardous waste disposal as necessary.
  • Complying with all safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • May involve operating fleet vehicles and conducting daily inspections for safe operation.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess native-level proficiency in English.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow communicated instructions.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, and walk up to 2 miles daily.

Note: This position requires in-person attendance at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory reserves the right to modify this status with prior notice to the employee.
