Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist at Memorial Healthcare, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures. Working under the supervision of the O.R. Manager, Associate Manager, Charge Nurse, and Director of Surgical Services, you will be responsible for providing sterile instruments and supplies to the surgeon, arranging instruments and supplies on the sterile field, and assisting the surgeon as requested.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment and packs for operative procedures efficiently.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique during surgical procedures, including proper scrubbing, gowning, and gloving.
  • Identify and obtain needed supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in assuring correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Identify and label specimens appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Clean up the room after each case.
  • Maintain specialty carts.
  • Maintain mandatory competencies.
  • Attend inservice education programs to learn new procedures and skills.
  • Seek help from professional staff if additional skills are required.
  • Be responsible for own surgical procedure competencies.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Surgical Technology or Military Trained.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider required upon hire and ongoing.
  • Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.
Essential Physical Abilities

Frequently required to stand, kneel, and crouch. On a daily basis, may be required to move about, sit, climb stairs, and bend. Is frequently required to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to push/pull/carry items between lbs.
