Concrete Mixer Operator

Fort Worth, Texas, United States Peak Utility Services Group Full time

The Concrete Mixer Operator is responsible for driving commercial vehicles designed to transport various materials, including concrete, from production facilities to construction sites while assisting the crew. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is essential for this role. This position demands a unique combination of skills, such as operating heavy vehicles under varying road conditions and collaborating closely with dispatch and construction teams to ensure timely and precise deliveries. Maintaining the quality of concrete during transport by managing its consistency is a critical aspect of the job. The operator is also tasked with the basic upkeep and cleanliness of the mixer truck, ensuring it is in optimal working condition for daily operations. The Concrete Mixer Operator plays a vital role in the successful execution of construction projects by delivering essential materials when and where they are needed.

Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Teamwork, and Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate a concrete mixer truck to transport concrete from the plant to the construction site, ensuring timely delivery. Conduct inspections of the mixer truck before and after each trip, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and ensuring the vehicle is in safe working condition. Mix concrete on-site, preparing only the necessary amount to avoid excess material disposal. Clean the mixer drum and chutes after each delivery to prevent concrete from hardening and to maintain equipment efficiency. Communicate with dispatch and construction site managers to confirm delivery details, adjust schedules as needed, and resolve any on-site issues promptly. Maneuver and position the mixer truck at the construction site to facilitate direct pouring of concrete or to fill concrete pumps or buckets, ensuring minimal disruption to the site. Adjust the drum rotation speed to mix concrete during transit or to prevent ingredient separation, ensuring quality delivery. Complete delivery tickets and other required documentation accurately and promptly, recording details such as quantity delivered, delivery location, and time of delivery. Perform minor maintenance tasks on the mixer truck, such as lubricating parts or replacing small components, to ensure operational readiness. Assist the crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance tasks. Support equipment operators by assisting with hand digging and locating underground obstructions. Work with specialized equipment, including jackhammers and rotary drills. Signal equipment operators as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Success Factors:

Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift. Ability to climb, dig, and work in tight spaces and on uneven surfaces. Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Plan efficient routes to construction sites to ensure timely concrete delivery. Manage time effectively to coordinate deliveries and maintain productivity. Adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting regular vehicle inspections. Foster positive interactions and clear communication with clients and site managers. Operate within a dynamic environment, primarily outdoors, navigating various construction sites. Work well independently and as part of a team. Comply with motor vehicle and background checks, and maintain a drug-free workplace. Demonstrate sufficient English proficiency for record-keeping and reporting. Show willingness and ability to learn additional skills.

Experience and Education:

A minimum of one year of experience in a construction role is required. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is required. Prior experience in crew coordination is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid State Driver's License is required. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to obtain a valid State of Residence Driver's License within two weeks of employment. Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks.
