At UnCruise Adventures, we are dedicated to delivering enriching travel experiences while fostering a deep appreciation for local cultures and the natural environment. Our adventures include kayaking among icebergs, exploring hidden waterfalls, snorkeling with sea lions, diving with manta rays, and sharing the ocean with whales. Our destinations encompass Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, and Baja California.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Steward is a versatile and diligent role. Key responsibilities include serving meals, maintaining guest cabins and public areas, assisting with beverage service, and occasionally supporting kitchen operations. This position is heavily focused on guest satisfaction and requires a friendly and accommodating attitude at all times. The ideal candidate will thrive in a physically demanding and mentally stimulating environment, adapting to various situations while upholding a positive and professional demeanor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least two years of experience in a full-service dining establishment with knowledge of wine and food terminology
- Preferred one to two years of experience in a housekeeping capacity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily tasks
- Comfortable living and working in close quarters with fellow crew members
- Experience on passenger vessels is advantageous but not mandatory
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Passport
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- Food Handler Permit for Alaska
- Alcohol Service Permit for Alaska - Must be 21 or older to serve
- ServSafe Allergens Certification
- Food Handler Permit for Washington (if applicable)
- MAST Alcohol Server Permit for Washington (if applicable)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Dining Room Service:
- Deliver outstanding guest service by explaining menu selections, addressing inquiries, and suggesting pairings
- Accurately record guest orders, noting any allergies or special requests
- Set tables, arrange napkins, and manage dining room setup and breakdown for three meals daily
- Assist in kitchen duties as needed, including dishwashing and cleaning tasks
Housekeeping:
- Thoroughly clean and maintain six to ten guest cabins daily, adhering to company standards
- Ensure cleanliness of all public areas through regular maintenance and special projects
Safety, Security & Training:
- Engage in onboard safety training, meetings, and drills as directed by the Captain, covering emergencies such as fire, man overboard, and medical situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Living Conditions: Crew members share accommodations with 4 to 8 individuals per room due to limited space.
- Work Shift Length: Must be physically capable of working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for extended periods.
- Mobility Requirements: Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting, with the ability to navigate stairs and ladders while carrying items.
- Strength Requirements: Capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds and carrying them over distances.
- Environmental Conditions: Able to work in varying weather conditions and in confined spaces.
COMPENSATION:
- $131 per day plus tips
