Job Description

At Labouré College of Healthcare, we are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Nursing Instructor to join our team of dedicated professionals. As an Adjunct Nursing Faculty member, you will play a vital role in implementing the clinical component of our Nursing courses, either in scheduled skills labs or at clinical sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend clinical meetings before the start of each semester to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Adhere to Labouré College of Healthcare Division of Nursing policies as outlined in the Student Handbook.
  • Follow course content in syllabi and Implementation Guides to guide teaching and correlate student learning outcomes to the clinical setting.
  • Promote high standards of excellence and professional behavior in the clinical setting and all interactions with students and faculty.
  • Communicate student achievements in clinical, including those struggling to progress, to the Course Coordinator and Clinical Chairperson.
  • Communicate any level of violation of conduct or integrity to the Course Coordinator and Clinical Chairperson immediately.
  • Provide students with constructive and timely feedback.
  • Complete student evaluations in collaboration with students and submit to the Division of Nursing before submitting final course grades.
  • Maintain documentation of student attendance, arrange for makeup, and communicate with the Clinical Chairperson.
  • Submit weekly clinical log to Clinical Chairperson.
  • Maintain a record of absences and plan for makeup.
  • Meet with the Health Care Organization's Unit manager or designee at the beginning and end of each semester, and as needed, to communicate the expected learning outcomes for the students and to identify any concerns that need to be addressed moving forward.

Qualifications:

  • An earned graduate degree in nursing; or
  • An earned baccalaureate degree in nursing in addition to meeting at least one of the following:

a) Matriculation in a graduate nursing program with an expected graduation date within five years of the date of the appointment or

b) Possess a related non-nursing graduate degree or

c) Possess a current Nurse Education certification by a Board recognized certifying organization or

d) Be matriculated in a graduate nursing program within one year of appointment with an expected graduation date within five years of the date of matriculation or

e) Obtain a current nurse education certification from a board-recognized certifying organization.

In addition, it is expected that all clinical adjunct faculty:

  • demonstrate computer competency and
  • possess the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
