We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a clinical setting. This is a flexible, part-time position that requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Job Summary:The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens
- Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements
- Perform accessioning procedures appropriately and accurately
- Recognize and resolve discrepancies as appropriate
- Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability
- Resolve or refer problems as appropriate
- Perform testing and record Point of Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control as assigned
- Handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols as assigned
- Follow established reporting procedures as appropriate
- Record and report problems and solutions as appropriate
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed
- Know and abide by related policies and procedures including compliance policies
- Provide phlebotomy coverage as required to Medical Group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or perform in-home phlebotomy for homebound patients
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Graduate of NAACLS approved Phlebotomy program
- One year of related experience
